Sometimes a wound primarily needs rest, protection, and the right support to heal properly. L-Mesitran Vet Soft Honey Gel is a medical honey ointment specifically developed to support natural wound healing in dogs.
The base of this ointment is 40% medicinal honey. Honey has been used for centuries in wound care, and for good reason. Medicinal honey creates a moist wound environment, which is essential for proper skin healing. At the same time, honey helps inhibit unwanted bacterial growth and supports the natural cleansing process of the wound.
Additionally, honey helps reduce odor, redness, and irritation around the wound. It supports the removal of dirt and damaged tissue and stimulates the formation of new skin tissue.
The formula of L-Mesitran Vet Soft is extra mild, making it suitable for sensitive animals. The addition of hypoallergenic lanolin (Medilan®) helps keep the skin supple and protects the wound area. Vitamins C and E meanwhile support the recovery of skin cells.
The ointment can be used for superficial and deeper wounds, both for acute injuries and for wounds that have been present for some time. Therefore, this honey gel is also regularly used by veterinarians as part of wound care or as an alternative when antibiotics are not immediately necessary.

About L-Mesitran
L-Mesitran is a medical wound care line based on medicinal honey. The products are designed to support natural wound healing and are used worldwide in the treatment of various wounds – from small injuries to more complex or infected wounds.
The strength of L-Mesitran lies in the antimicrobial and healing properties of medical honey. Honey helps create a moist wound environment, which is essential for effective skin recovery. At the same time, it supports the natural cleansing process of the wound and helps inhibit unwanted bacterial growth. This allows the wound area to heal safely, without the side effects sometimes associated with stronger medications.
For L-Mesitran products, organic honey sterilized with gamma radiation is used. This preserves the effectiveness of the honey while making the product completely safe for medical applications.
A special feature of L-Mesitran Soft gel is its high proportion of medicinal honey: 40%. This is about twice as much as in many other honey-based wound care products. This high concentration contributes to its strong antimicrobial action and supports effective wound healing.
Thanks to these properties, L-Mesitran is regularly used as an alternative or complementary therapy to antibiotics, for example, in slow-healing wounds or infections where antibiotic resistance plays a role.
