The seeds naturally contain bittering agents, mucilage, and aromatic compounds, which together give them their distinctive, slightly sweet aroma—described by some as reminiscent of maple syrup or freshly baked dough.

In holistic dog food, fenugreek is mainly used as a supplement to the daily diet, when eating feels less natural or when the body requires extra softness and support.

When is fenugreek traditionally used?

Within traditional and descriptive applications, fenugreek is often chosen:

• when appetite varies

• for sensitive or slow digestion

• as part of nutrition during recovery periods

• for dogs that could temporarily use a little more food and attention

Always as part of the whole, never separate.

Use & application

Fenugreek powder has a soft texture and mixes easily with wet food, yogurt, or homemade treats. Its distinctive aroma makes it well-accepted.

Guideline (daily, mix with food):

• Small dog (–10 kg): ± ¼ teaspoon

• Medium dog (10–25 kg): ± ½ teaspoon

• Large dog (25 kg+): up to max. 1 teaspoon

Always start with a small amount and observe how your dog reacts.

When should you avoid using fenugreek?

Fenugreek is a powerful seed and requires conscious effort:

• Do not use during pregnancy unless in consultation with a veterinarian.

• For dogs with sensitive blood sugar levels: first adjust

• Not suitable for puppies under 6 months

• Build up slowly to allow digestion to adjust
